Philippines eSIM and tourist SIM options

Choose a Philippines eSIM around your island itinerary and whether you need domestic calls or texts. A data-only plan suits maps and messaging apps, while a local operator tourist offer may include a number and voice service. A four-country Southeast Asia plan does not necessarily include the Philippines.

Local SIM plans

Recommended

For the best quality, speed and stability choose a local SIM: it connects directly to this country's network.

One eSIM per order. Travelling with someone else? Place a second order after this one.

On arrival

Save your Manila or Cebu transfer details and onward bookings offline. For an eSIM, follow the purchased installation timing on stable Wi-Fi. For a physical SIM, use the operator's current arrival-counter or store information and confirm the offer and registration steps there; a digital eSIM price is not a physical-SIM quote.

Coverage along your route

Check the network for each island and accommodation address. Good reception in Manila or Cebu does not establish service on a smaller island, a remote beach or a ferry. Download maps and tickets before moving between islands. A local network name alone is not evidence of reliable indoor coverage.

Local or regional?

Smart and Globe digital tourist offers include domestic calls and texts in the references below. Compare that benefit with a data-only eSIM before choosing by price. For onward travel, the broader Asia-Pacific selection includes the Philippines when explicitly listed; the four-country Singapore–Malaysia–Indonesia–Thailand family does not.

Before you connect

Check your exact phone model and carrier lock before purchase. Use stable Wi-Fi and the installation timing shown for your plan. Select the eSIM for mobile data and follow its roaming setting. Keep the QR code private and do not delete the profile while troubleshooting.

An operator's map is a planning reference, not a promise of reception or speed. Buildings, terrain, device support and congestion affect service. We have not field-tested these locations.

Will it work on my phone?

Will your phone take an eSIM?

Three checks, about a minute, before you pay.

  1. 01.

    Dial *#06#

If an EID appears under the IMEI, the phone has an eSIM chip. On iPhone the same number is in Settings, General, About.

  2. 02.

    Make sure it is unlocked

A phone tied to the carrier that sold it refuses other networks, an eSIM included. Your carrier can unlock it, usually free once the contract is paid.

  3. 03.

Check the model sold in your country

Some models ship without eSIM in certain markets, mainland China and Hong Kong most often. The maker’s own list settles it.

Another make?

Search your settings for “eSIM” or “SIM manager”. A phone that can add a plan without a card can take ours.

Questions before buying

Will the cheaper four-country regional plan work here?

No. That family covers Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand, not the Philippines. Choose a Philippines plan or a broader regional plan whose full coverage list includes PH. The Smart digital price below applies to an eSIM and must not be treated as a physical-SIM price.

Will an eSIM work on my phone?

Use an unlocked phone that supports eSIM. Check the exact model and sales region with its manufacturer before buying; phones with similar names can differ.

Does a regional plan restart at each border?

No. The data allowance and validity are shared across covered destinations. Check every stop in the selected plan's list, including any stopover where you need mobile data.

Can I make calls or share a hotspot?

Only when the selected product explicitly confirms those features. A data-only plan does not promise a local number or voice minutes. Unconfirmed features are shown as unknown.
