Thailand eSIM: local and regional plans

Choose a Thailand eSIM around two decisions: whether you need a local number, and whether Thailand is your only stop. Local and regional products can have different installation rules. The local dtac family selected here requires installation in Thailand, so do not follow a generic instruction to install before departure.

Local SIM plans

Recommended

For the best quality, speed and stability choose a local SIM: it connects directly to this country's network.

Regional plans

One eSIM for several countries. Data and validity are shared across the whole trip and speeds vary by network, so a local SIM stays faster and more stable while you are in this country.

One eSIM per order. Travelling with someone else? Place a second order after this one.

On arrival

Save your Bangkok, Phuket or Chiang Mai accommodation details before travel. For a plan marked arrival-only, wait until you are in Thailand and have reliable Wi-Fi before scanning the code. Complete any required registration, then use the order's activation instructions. A local phone number does not by itself mean that calls are included.

Coverage along your route

Review the operator's coverage for your actual route, not only the airport or city centre. A beach excursion, mountain road or remote accommodation can differ from Bangkok reception. Regional plans may use a different Thai network from a local dtac product; compare the network shown for each offer.

Local or regional?

A local tourist SIM can suit travellers who need domestic calls or a large allowance. A regional eSIM can suit a Thailand–Malaysia or Thailand–Singapore trip. Compare the total trip cost, registration steps, hotspot terms and validity start. An advertised unlimited allowance still needs its speed and fair-use terms checked.

Before you connect

Check your exact phone model and carrier lock before purchase. Use stable Wi-Fi and the installation timing shown for your plan. Select the eSIM for mobile data and follow its roaming setting. Keep the QR code private and do not delete the profile while troubleshooting.

An operator's map is a planning reference, not a promise of reception or speed. Buildings, terrain, device support and congestion affect service. We have not field-tested these locations.

Will it work on my phone?

Will your phone take an eSIM?

Three checks, about a minute, before you pay.

  1. 01.

    Dial *#06#

If an EID appears under the IMEI, the phone has an eSIM chip. On iPhone the same number is in Settings, General, About.

  2. 02.

    Make sure it is unlocked

A phone tied to the carrier that sold it refuses other networks, an eSIM included. Your carrier can unlock it, usually free once the contract is paid.

  3. 03.

Check the model sold in your country

Some models ship without eSIM in certain markets, mainland China and Hong Kong most often. The maker’s own list settles it.

Another make?

Search your settings for “eSIM” or “SIM manager”. A phone that can add a plan without a card can take ours.

Questions before buying

Should I install the Thailand eSIM before flying?

Only if your purchased plan explicitly permits it. The local dtac products in this selection say to install in Thailand only. Regional products have their own rules, which must be checked separately. Keep the QR code private and use the instructions attached to your order.

Will an eSIM work on my phone?

Use an unlocked phone that supports eSIM. Check the exact model and sales region with its manufacturer before buying; phones with similar names can differ.

Does a regional plan restart at each border?

No. The data allowance and validity are shared across covered destinations. Check every stop in the selected plan's list, including any stopover where you need mobile data.

Can I make calls or share a hotspot?

Only when the selected product explicitly confirms those features. A data-only plan does not promise a local number or voice minutes. Unconfirmed features are shown as unknown.
