Duong Dong
Strong
4G in the town and around the night market, which makes it the place to load everything the rest of the island needs.

Kien Giang, southern Vietnam
A Phu Quoc eSIM is on when you land at PQC, about 10 km from Duong Dong, where Grab, Be and Xanh SM need data to pick you up. One Vietnam plan covers the island, the An Thoi boats and the mainland without a second purchase.

The four moments when a working line changes the day.
Switch the eSIM on inside arrivals. The town is 10 km away and the app needs data before the pickup.
Pin the hotel, then find the night market on foot; the centre is small and the streets are one way.
Load the route to Long Beach or the northern coast before the scooter ride. Offline maps cover driving only.
Screenshot the tour, the pickup time and the operator's number before the boat leaves the south.
A guide to the places the phone will be asked to work, and what to download before you get there.
Strong
4G in the town and around the night market, which makes it the place to load everything the rest of the island needs.
Strong
A working connection along the beach road and in the resorts. Good for calls, maps and booking the next day.
Thin
Signal holds at the port and fades between the southern islands. Save the tour details and an offline map before you board.
Mixed
Coverage at the stations, thinner over the water. Screenshot the ticket and the return time rather than loading them at the gate.
Phu Quoc International Airport is about 10 km south of Duong Dong, which Vietnam Airlines and Visit Phu Quoc both put at least 15 minutes by road. A taxi to town is about 180,000 to 220,000 VND, and about 250,000 VND to An Thoi. Ride-hailing is about 150,000 to 220,000 VND to town, with pickups outside the terminal.
A public bus runs from the airport towards Duong Dong, though Vietnam Airlines notes the stop can mean a walk of about 500 metres with luggage. Hotel pickups are another option, priced by the hotel. Whichever you choose, the app or the map needs data before you leave the arrivals hall.
Vietnam Tourism describes boat trips around the An Thoi archipelago, with islands such as Fingernail Island a short ride away, and a cable car over the southern islands from An Thoi. Day tours are sold by travel agencies, and the details belong on the phone before the boat leaves.
On the island, the phone is a map for the scooter, a translator at the market and a camera at sunset. Vietnam Tourism lists motorbike rental, local taxis, minibuses and coaches as ways to get around, and Visit Phu Quoc puts motorbike rental at about 120,000 to 150,000 VND a day.
An island day, estimated for one phone used normally.
