Airport assistance in Vietnam PQC
Phu Quoc airport: Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC)
Phu Quoc
Is this an e-visa gate?
Yes. Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC), which serves Phu Quoc, is on the government list of air border gates where an e-visa may be used. Choose it as your entry point on the application: an e-visa limits you to the gates named on the approval, and arriving at a different one is a problem at the counter.
What it includes
- A staff member meets you with a name sign at the arrival gate or before immigration
- An escort to a priority or VIP immigration counter, where the airport allows it
- Help at the visa counter if you arrive on an approval letter
on request
What it does not include
- A set clearance time: every passenger still sees an immigration officer
- Baggage and customs: your own on the basic service
- The visa stamping fee, if you arrive on an approval letter
- Night surcharges, where the airport charges one
Departure
- A staff member meets you at the terminal, where a seller offers departure service at this airport
- Help through check-in, security and exit immigration, using priority counters where the airport allows it
What the queue is like
Tuoi Tre reported long lines of international arrivals in early January 2026, with about 80 arriving flights a day, and immigration busy all day on 17 January 2026, when the airport served about 16,332 foreign passengers.
- Foreigners arriving at Phu Quoc directly from abroad, or transiting through another Vietnamese international gate to Phu Quoc, may stay up to 30 days on the island without a visa. The exemption covers the island only.
- Sun Group took over the management and operation of the airport from the Airports Corporation of Vietnam on 1 January 2026.
- From 1 to 20 January 2026 the airport handled about 734 international flights, over 40 percent more than a year earlier.
Questions about this airport
Do I need a visa if I fly straight to Phu Quoc?
Not for a stay on the island. Foreigners arriving at Phu Quoc directly from abroad, or transiting through another Vietnamese international gate to Phu Quoc, may stay up to 30 days without a visa. The rule covers Phu Quoc only, so travel on to the mainland needs a visa.
When is Phu Quoc airport busy?
In the peak season of January 2026 the airport handled about 80 arriving flights a day, and Tuoi Tre reported immigration and check-in busy all day on 17 January, with about 16,332 foreign passengers that day. The island has one international airport, so every arrival passes the same counters.
