Turn on your eSIM in Vietnam

On iPhone

1. Open Settings, then Cellular.
2. Tap the VietSim line and make sure Turn On This Line is on.
3. Go back, tap Cellular Data and choose the VietSim line.
4. Turn off Allow Cellular Data Switching, so the phone never falls back to your home line for data.
5. Tap your home line and turn off Data Roaming. You can still receive calls and SMS on your home number, charged by your home carrier.

On Android

1. Open the SIM settings: Settings, Connections, SIM manager on Samsung, or Settings, Network & internet, SIMs on Google Pixel.
2. Turn the VietSim eSIM on.
3. Set Mobile data to the VietSim eSIM.
4. Open your home SIM and turn off Roaming.

Give the phone a few minutes to find the network. The signal bars and the carrier name, for example Viettel, VinaPhone or MobiFone, appear next to the eSIM line.

Data roaming on the eSIM line

Some eSIM profiles connect only when Data Roaming is on for that line. If the eSIM shows a signal but mobile data does not work, turn Data Roaming on for the VietSim line only. The plan is prepaid, so this cannot add charges to the eSIM.

Activation deadline

Every eSIM profile has an activation deadline set by the carrier. When we sell a profile, that deadline is at least 3 days away. If you buy more than a week before your trip, write to [email protected] before installing and we will confirm the deadline and when the validity days start for your plan.

Identity checks

Vietnamese law requires mobile lines to be registered to an identified user. If the carrier or our distributor asks for identity details to keep the line active, the line may be suspended until you provide them. We tell you by email what is needed.

Still no connection

Work through the checks in eSIM not connecting, in order.
