Before you start
- Check your phone. It must support eSIM and must not be locked to a carrier. Dial
*#06#: if an EID number appears, the phone supports eSIM. - Connect to Wi-Fi. The phone downloads the eSIM profile from the internet, so it needs a stable connection.
- Open your order page on a second screen. You scan the QR code with the phone you install the eSIM on, so show the order page on a laptop, a tablet or another phone. If you only have one phone, use manual entry instead.
- Keep the eSIM once it is installed. A profile can usually be installed only once. An eSIM deleted after installation cannot be restored and is not refunded under our Refund policy.
iPhone
- Open Settings, then Cellular. In some countries this menu is called Mobile Service or Mobile Data.
- Tap Add eSIM, then Use QR Code.
- Scan the QR code on your order page.
- When iPhone asks for a label, name the line, for example Vietnam.
- Keep your home number as the default line for calls, iMessage and FaceTime.
- For Cellular Data, keep your home line for now. You switch data to the eSIM when you land: see Turn on your eSIM in Vietnam.
Manual entry: on the Use QR Code screen, tap Enter Details Manually and copy the SM-DP+ address and the activation code from your order page.
Samsung Galaxy
- Open Settings, then Connections, then SIM manager.
- Tap Add eSIM, then Scan QR code from service provider.
- Scan the QR code on your order page and confirm.
- Keep your home SIM selected for mobile data until you land.
Manual entry: choose Enter activation code and type LPA:1$, then the SM-DP+ address, then $, then the activation code, with no spaces.
Google Pixel
- Open Settings, then Network & internet, then SIMs.
- Tap Add SIM, then Download a SIM instead? and Next.
- Scan the QR code on your order page and confirm.
Manual entry: on the scanning screen, tap Need help? and enter the code the same way as on a Samsung phone.
Other Android phones
Menu names differ between brands. Look in Settings for SIM manager, SIM cards or Mobile network, then choose Add eSIM or Download SIM. If you cannot find it, search the settings for “eSIM”.
If the installation fails
- Check the Wi-Fi connection and restart the phone.
- Try once more. If the phone says the code is no longer valid, do not keep retrying.
- Email [email protected] with the link to your order page, your phone model and a screenshot of the error.
An eSIM that was never installed can be refunded in full: see Refunds and lost QR codes.
