Do the checks in this order. Test mobile data after each one with Wi-Fi turned off.
1. The line is on and chosen for data
The VietSIM line must be switched on and set as the line for mobile data. On iPhone: Settings, Cellular, Cellular Data. On Android: the Mobile data setting in the SIM manager. Step-by-step instructions are in Turn on your eSIM in Vietnam.
2. Data Roaming is on for the eSIM line
Some eSIM profiles connect only with Data Roaming on. Turn it on for the VietSIM line only. The plan is prepaid, so this cannot add charges to the eSIM.
3. Restart the connection
Turn Airplane Mode on, wait 30 seconds and turn it off again. If nothing changes, restart the phone.
4. Choose the network by hand
- On iPhone: Settings, Cellular, the VietSIM line, Network Selection, then turn off Automatic. On Android: the SIM settings, Mobile networks, Network operators, then turn off Select automatically.
- Wait for the list of networks and choose the carrier your plan runs on: Viettel, VinaPhone or MobiFone. For plans sold under another name, the store shows the carrier in brackets, for example Local (MobiFone).
5. Signal and location
Coverage is weaker inside large buildings, in basements, in mountain areas and at sea. Step outside or move to a window and try again.
6. The data allowance
A daily allowance renews every day on the carrier’s schedule. Once an allowance is used up, the carrier may slow down or stop mobile data until it renews or the plan ends. If the eSIM worked earlier today, check this first: your phone shows the data used per line in the mobile data settings.
Still not working
Email [email protected] while you are in Vietnam, with:
- the link to your order page;
- your phone model and software version;
- the city or place you are in;
- what the phone shows next to the eSIM line, for example No Service, SOS or signal bars without internet;
- screenshots of the mobile network settings.
We work on the problem with you. If the eSIM cannot be made to work, you get a full refund under the Refund policy.
These are not faults of the eSIM: a phone that does not support eSIM or is locked to a carrier, mobile data or the eSIM line switched off, weak coverage in remote areas or inside buildings, and the carrier’s normal speed limits after an allowance is used up.
