What the queue is like

No government wait-time data was found. In April 2023 VnExpress reported entry and baggage taking up to nearly three hours at the main airports, and in March 2024 tourists were still reporting hours-long immigration queues here, despite the automatic gates opened in August 2023.

  • Resellers report that priority immigration has been closed to Vietnamese passport holders since 07:00 on 12 February 2026. No government notice of it was found, so ask before booking if you travel on a Vietnamese passport.
  • International flights start moving to Long Thanh in phases from December 2026, and all long-haul international flights move from 28 March 2027 under the CAAV plan.
