Routes change with the seasons, and India and Vietnam agreed in September 2026 to more than double the seats airlines may offer each week, from 8,000 to 16,800. Treat the table as a map of who flies, and check the airline’s own schedule for your dates. That is also why this page quotes no fares: a fare is out of date the day it is written.

How many flights, and how long they take

A VietnamPlus report in September 2026 put the link at around 80 direct flights a week, and the air services agreement later that month counted 30 a week on Indian airlines and 48 on Vietnamese ones. Most connect Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with some Vietjet and Vietnam Airlines routes from Ahmedabad, Kochi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

Route Flying time, about
Delhi to Hanoi 4 to 4.5 hours
Delhi to Ho Chi Minh City 5 to 5.5 hours
Mumbai to Hanoi 4.25 to 5 hours

Vietnam is 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of India all year. Several of these flights leave India before dawn or early in the morning and land around midday, so plan the first day as a short one.

Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City or Da Nang

Pick the airport by what you want to see first rather than by the ticket price alone:

  • Hanoi (Noi Bai) for the north: Hanoi itself, Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh and Sapa.
  • Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat) for the south: the city, the Cu Chi tunnels and the Mekong Delta.
  • Da Nang for the centre: Hoi An, Hue and the beaches. Vietjet reported flights between Da Nang and India in 2025; check its current schedule.

Flying into one city and out of the other saves retracing 1,650 kilometres. The route between them is in a Vietnam itinerary.

Before you board

You need a visa for mainland Vietnam. Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, Da Nang, Cam Ranh and Phu Quoc are all on the government list of e-visa entry points at evisa.gov.vn; check your own gate there before you book. The e-visa, its fee in rupees and the Phu Quoc exception are in Vietnam visa for Indians.

After you land

Getting from the airport into town is in Hanoi airport to the Old Quarter and Tan Son Nhat to District 1. Both are easier with mobile data working from the jet bridge, so a ride app, a map and your hotel booking open before you reach the taxi rank. Install the eSIM in India before you fly; the plans are in the Vietnam eSIM store.

Questions

Are there direct flights from Delhi to Vietnam?

Yes. Delhi has nonstop flights to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. IndiGo has flown Delhi to Hanoi daily since December 2025, Air India flies Delhi to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, and Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet have also flown from Delhi. Delhi to Hanoi takes about 4 to 4.5 hours.

Are there direct flights from Mumbai to Vietnam?

Yes. Akasa Air began Mumbai to Hanoi four times a week on 4 September 2026, IndiGo plans daily Mumbai to Hanoi flights from 25 October 2026, and Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet have flown Mumbai to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Mumbai to Hanoi takes about 4.25 to 5 hours, depending on the airline.

How long is the flight from India to Vietnam?

About 4 to 4.5 hours from Delhi to Hanoi, about 5 to 5.5 hours from Delhi to Ho Chi Minh City, and about 4.25 to 5 hours from Mumbai to Hanoi. Kolkata is closer: its flights to Hanoi are shorter than those from Delhi.

What is the time difference between India and Vietnam?

Vietnam is 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of India. India keeps UTC+5:30 and Vietnam UTC+7, and neither country uses daylight saving, so the gap is the same all year. A flight leaving Delhi at 07:25 lands in Hanoi at 13:00 local time, about 4 hours later.

Which Vietnamese airport should I fly into?

Hanoi (Noi Bai) for the north, Ha Long Bay and Sapa; Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat) for the south and the Mekong Delta; Da Nang for Hoi An and the centre. All three accept the e-visa, as do Cam Ranh for Nha Trang and Phu Quoc.

Can I fly from India straight to Phu Quoc?

We could not confirm a direct India to Phu Quoc service in 2026. The island's 30-day visa-free rule only applies if you arrive there directly from outside Vietnam, or connect through the international transit area of Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City without passing immigration there. If you enter Vietnam at the connecting airport, you need a visa, so ask the airline how the connection works.
